I’ve had a very sad couple of weeks as I had to make an unplanned trip to England. My poor darling Mum isn’t well, and her partner is in hospital. Things are rum, and it’s times like this when Western Australia feels a verrrry long way away from England.
There have been tears and frustrations, not for myself but for them and so much longing for how things used to be. I’ve wanted to wave a magic wand to make everything better, but I know all I can do in the limited time I’m here is to support, be as much help as possible, and hopefully make them smile.
With all the turmoil I haven’t had a chance to do much blogging, and even less social media. Life priorities take over at times like this, don’t they, and everything else goes for a Burton, so to speak.
But I’ve been thinking of you Lifestylers, and hoping that things are okay in your corners of the world?
I’ve been thinking too that life is short and you really really really do have to do things while you’re still physically and mentally able.
Yet, we forget it, don’t we? We think, “Agh no, I’ll do that tomorrow.” Or next summer, or next year.
So one thing I wanted to mention is that Dave and I are taking the bull by the horns and we are doing something we’ve always wanted to do.
A luxury canal barge trip in France.
Later in the year we’ll be travelling through the Champagne Region of France. sipping Moet & Chandon (I hope) as well as all sorts of other escapades on a barge called Panache.
“Panache is a hotel barge that has been fitted out in traditional yacht style with brass and mahogany fittings in the spacious public areas and very comfortable cabin accommodation.”
Why not join us?
These are some of the things we’ll get up to …
- Go on private winery tour and tasting at champagne houses such as Moët & Chandon, Henriot & Maison Pannier
- Visit the 800-year-old Reims cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece and now UNESCO World Heritage Centre where the Kings of France were once crowned
- Visit the champagne ‘capital’ of Epernay for a cellar tour and private tasting
- Visit Château-Thierry, the scene of fierce battles in World War I, and Belleau Wood
European Waterways are offering a 20% discount on the couple of cabins they have left on this trip.
You can find all the details here : European Waterways Panache Champagne Cruise
Without further ado, I’m going to spend the last few days with my Mum in Devon, and make the most of every moment.
Have a good week everyone 🙂
