Welcome to News, Views and Useful Shenanigans Part 6, the weekly round-up post of helpful chat, news, tips, and lovely new products. This week there are diet tips, an answer to your self tanning problems, a cruise handbook you’re going to love, and some ideas for a cheery casual look.
Why not grab a coffee, have a read and see what’s in store this week?
Hope you enjoy 🙂
Well friends, I’m still on my diet regime, albeit loosely, and trying to eat only between 5pm and 8pm (full details in this post) That doesn’t mean to say I’m stuffing myself between those hours, but eating a normal healthy dinner and some healthy snacks too.
Some days, like at the weekend, it doesn’t happen, but so far I’ve managed to keep it up for the majority of the week and I am losing weight. I want to lose 5kgs. I have lost 2kgs.
I’m also taking an amazing supplement which I can honestly say is helping with my knee joint pain and giving me more energy, which makes me want to exercise more.
I’m also making smoothies, and concentrating on the green variety to keep calories down. Spinach, celery, lemon, apple and cucumber is a favourite, and as a treat I’m loving watermelon, lemon and mint. I use and love a Nutribullet. Read my review about the Nutribullet here.
I hate it when my white little legs poke out beneath a knee length dress! Especially when it’s just too hot to wear tights.
I had this problem when I tried on a dress I wanted to wear to an upcoming wedding, which was held outside, and the weather was looking hot hot hot.
My little calves looked white white white! White as snow in fact – because, for the sake of my skin, I don’t sunbake anymore.
Then I tried this wonderful instant tanning product. It’s great. It’s easy to apply, doesn’t streak, and after just one application my legs look nicely tanned, without looking a ridiculous orange colour. I’ll probably add another application tomorrow.
The nice thing about it is the tanning is immediate, it’s quick to dry and you can layer the colour to the shade you want to go.

Outfit of the Week
I love this bright combo. Cherry red is one of my favourite colours and with white bengaline pants I think it makes a cheery statement. The extra chiffon underlay drops the blouse to a flattering length, and the sleeves are a great length too. The pants are stretchy, with a wide-banded elasticated waist and good tummy control – that makes them super comfy to wear.
The pants and top are by Vivid International and you can get 30% discount online – using the exclusive Lifestyle Fifty code LSFTAKE30 – if you buy anything from the Vivid website.
The Cruise Handbook
A wonderful book found its way to me this week.
The Cruise Handbook by Lonely Planet : Inspiring ideas and essential advice for the new generation of cruises and cruisers.
As you know Dave and I love love cruising, and this pint sized guide is full of fabulous, bite sized tips for smooth sailing, cruise planning, money and budgeting, booking your trip, planning tips, staying healthy on board, cruise etiquette, packing practicalities, different types of cruises and dreamy destinations.
It’s a great gift, or you might end up keeping it for yourself 🙂
That’s all for this week. I hope you’re having a great week and that you’ve enjoyed reading this post.
Let me know in the comments if you’ve had any ‘super finds’ this week won’t you.
