I thought Mondays, would be a good day for a Lifestyle Fifty play-along.
It’s going to be called “What are you wearing today?“, and the plan is that we post a photo of ourselves in everyday garb to get some ‘fun’ feedback on what other people think – does it suit us, what could be added or left off, or are we completely deluded!
Comments will be moderated, and I’ll only be publishing useful constructive feedback, not destructive criticism.
Everyday fashion
This isn’t meant to be a style competition, nor do you have to rush out and buy new clothes, just take a photo of yourself in what you’re wearing today (a mobile phone selfie or a camera self timed photo is fine).
I don’t know about you, but I have quite a lot of clothes in my wardrobe which rarely get worn. They are either ‘too good’ or ‘not good enough’ for this or that occasion, so they sit there gathering dust, and probably losing shape.
Then times change, my shape changes, and I don’t know if they really suit me or not after all.
Today I went to my monthly writer’s meeting with South Side Quills and out of my wardrobe I pulled this skirt which I bought in South Africa as an ‘office’ skirt in 2007, but I never got a job in an office after all, and so I’ve hardly worn it … ironically, just in case I ever do get an office job! The sandals are from Pavers in England (and not terribly comfortable), the grey stretch top is from Supre in Australia, the wrap cardigan is from Monsoon in England, the belt is from years ago in South Africa, and the beads my daughter brought me back from Bali.
What do you think? Thumbs up or thumbs down? Shall I wear this outfit again, or should I ditch it?
To play along – post a photo of yourself to Lifestyle Fifty’s Facebook Page (click this link), say a little about the photo if you’d like to, like are the clothes old or new, and where did you buy them. I’ll copy and paste the photograph and your explanation into the next available “What are you wearing today” post on Lifestyle Fifty, and ask for readers to comment.
I can’t wait to see what all you funky, feisty women are wearing.
In the meantime, have your say. Thumbs up or thumbs down to what I’m wearing today? (I’m bracing myself!!)
You look great – and definitely not 50! I love the story behind all the clothes and the necklace. I can see you were never destined for office work ๐
He He, you’re right about the office work! Thanks for your kind words Annabel, and glad you liked the story behind the clothes ๐
Well I thought it was a new outfit and I loved the beads I thought they went really well with it – I think you look great … mind you I think you would look ok in a hessian bag – with or without accessories.
Thank you Ingrid! I’m glad I managed to pull off the ‘old’ as ‘new’ illusion ๐ Don’t know about the hessian bag though – unless it went right up over my head!! Thanks for popping by today ๐
Great choice of clothes and love your skirt. Now I have another reason to visit Australia – you can go shopping for me.
Ha Ha, Neva! I’d love to go shopping with you, but I’m not sure I should be let loose on my own!
Thumbs up!
Thanks Carol – and you, how about a pic tomorrow?
I agree you look fabulous and I love the colour on you, I admire people who can accessorise as I am never comfortable accessorising. I don’t wear necklaces as my head is to small. I like the open toe rather than a closed toe shoe with this outfit, I wonder that the belt might be to heavy for such a spring outfit. I say wear whatever makes you feel good, as you most certainly look good. Rae xxx
Yes, maybe the belt is a bit heavy Rae. I’m not sure I’m good at accessorising either, but well, give it a go and see what happens is how I feel! Thanks for chipping in, but how about submitting a photo of you tomorrow? That would be so cool ๐
Hi Jo – you look fabulous and no-one would know your skirt was bought in 2007.
What a great idea to get constructive feedback on the outfits we wear. I would have added a photo of myself EXCEPT it’s now after dinner here and I’m already in my bumming-around-the-house clothes. Maybe next time!
I’m so glad you like the idea Carolyn, and thank you! Why not add yours tomorrow, or the next day? There’s no time frame ๐
Jo you always look fabulous – and I thought the colours really suited you when I saw you today and that all the pieces went together really well. See there is a reason for keeping that old skirt from 2007! I just wasn’t sure about the little crop top cardi – but then your body shape suits it far better than mine. At least you have daughters who probably keep their mum looking young and trendy.
As for joining in? ouch! I am not sure about that……..
Ohhh, go on Jill, how about a pic of your travelling 4 x 4 gear. I often get hung up about comfort and practicality, but I think you do the effortless travel gear so well. Anyway, thank you for your kind complement. Yes, I wasn’t sure about the crop top cardi, although I think Emma would have approved!
