Welcome to the Fabulous Over 50 Blog series! Part 7 introducing you to some wonderful Women Over 50 Who Blog. It’s great to see you here.
Fabulous Over 50 Blog
I like to think that Lifestyle Fifty is an inclusive, happy place on the big bad web, and as much as I love writing about issues women over 50 face, and about fashion and travel, I think it’s the other fascinating women who contribute to this site that give it an extra, super fabulous dimension.
It would be great to showcase more guest posters – don’t for one minute assume you have to be an Elizabeth Gilbert to write for Lifestyle Fifty although if you are – well a big welcome Liz!
Blogs for Women Over 50
I’m very keen to promote creative women over 50 who either blog -or who are entrepreneurs or micropreneurs in any other field too – a new series!
If you’d like to be included, or know of any women over 50 who has a success story to tell, please let me know in the comments.
For now, a big warm welcome to Suzanne and Gayle, bloggers at Sixty Express and Retirement Reflections. Thank you both for contributing 🙂
Suzanne Singleton Brown – Sixty Express
Trains, planes, automobiles, ships and ferries. You guessed, my blog is about my travel experiences since I retired a few years ago.
My name is Suzanne and as I crept into my sixties I called my blog: Sixty Express. Come join us!
With a sailor for a husband, we still enjoy sea travel …….sorry not luxury cruise liners..think smaller freighter ships that also take passengers.
Our travels have included river cruises or a tour, but are usually to more obscure and less travelled places.
We have travelled by local buses up through Finland, trained through the mountain regions in Europe, caught the Trans Siberian train and sailed on a freighter ship to the French Marquis Islands.
If you’ve always wanted to go to see where the Bounty ended up, check out the markets of Myanmar, or see the cherry blossoms in Japan, then please check out my blog and come travelling with me.
It won’t be a tour guide experience, but I promise you will feel you are along on the journey without the hassle of packing.
Should you decide to come, we will be leaving next January for a trip to Pitcairn Island.
But why wait, check out some past trips to obscure place such as the Finnish Áland Islands, Budapest to Bucharest or parts of Asia. I hope to meet you soon.
Donna Connolly – Retirement Reflections
I began blogging as a New Year’s resolution. I had recently retired and wanted to record my thoughts and experiences as I transitioned into ‘life after work’. I knew very little about blogging but took the plunge and self-hosted. My technology learning curve has been straight up!
I hadn’t written for pleasure for years. It was a remarkable feeling to reconnect with this part of me that had remained dormant for so long.
Another unexpected pleasure from blogging has been the deep connections made with so many incredible people from around the world. People who inspire, encourage and make you think. To date, I have been able to meet up with six bloggers IRL. We never ran out of things to say (quite the opposite), and we felt like we had known each other forever!
Here’s an early post that I had written that best describes my transition into retirement: Hope for The Driven Personality
Thank you to Jo for including me in this series. I greatly look forward to connecting with others at Lifestyle Fifty.

What a great series, Johanna! So happy to see my sweet friend Donna in the spotlight.
Thanks Jill 🙂
Wonderful idea. I love discovering new blogs written by women I can relate to. Now I’m off to check on some of those links!
Great! Thanks Ingrid and enjoy 🙂
Thanks Ingrid 🙂 Enjoy 🙂
Thanks Jo for this series. I follow Donna’s blog and love it, but Suzanne’s blog is new to me. I’m off to check it out now. #MLSTL
Great Christie :)!
It is refreshing to learn about more and more women of our age joining the blogging fraternity. We do have so much to share and give to the community as we lots of life experience under our belts. Thanks for sharing these two lovely ladies with us.
Thanks Kathy – it is a lovely fraternity isn’t it 🙂
Thank you, Jo, for this series. I love finding blogs by women more towards my own age.
Thank you Victoria. I’m so glad you’re enjoying this series 🙂
Hi, Johanna – Thank you so much for the feature. When I first began to consider my retirement (2013), I had a difficult time finding bloggers who wrote on the emotional side of retirement (as opposed to focusing solely on the financial). I now know that they were out there — I just couldn’t find them. A series like this is so helpful in multiple ways. I am off to check out Suzanne’s site now. Thank you for introducing us to her!
That’s great and thanks Donna 🙂
Such an inspirational post. I love discovering new blogs for women in my age group.
Thanks Amy 🙂 Yes, we are all out there, not always easy to find, but we are there – and it’s been wonderful discovering new women bloggers over the age of 50 from all around the world 🙂
Thanks Amy, and welcome 🙂
How wonderful to see my friend Donna featured on your blog and to meet Suzanne. So many interesting women over 50 who are doing amazing and creative things. Nice to also meet you, Johanna. I’m a big fan of all things Australian. I’d love to visit, but I’m lazy and don’t know if I could endure the plane ride. Haha! I’d be interested in being part of your promotion of women bloggers over 50. I started when I was 62 and turn the ripe old age of 65 on Saturday. I can’t believe it! Yikes! #MLSTL
Hello Molly, would love to feature you 🙂 Yes, it is a long plane ride, but it’s worth it!
I’ve loved this series Jo – so many wonderful women sharing their lives online – it’s so encouraging to read and follow women who are being proactive in Midlife. The community and the mutual cheersquad is what this blogging journey is all about. I’m looking forward to Elizabeth Gilbert joining the group – I always love her books 😀
MLSTL and shared on my SM
Lol Leanne and Thank You too! Yes, wouldn’t it be great to entice Ms Gilbert to write on the blog!
There are so many wonderful Women Over 50 aren’t there Jo? Thank you for bringing them to us each week in your series and sharing at #MLSTL. Over 50 Women Rock!
Thank you Sue 🙂 Rock On!
Thanks, Johanna, for introducing Suzanne and Donna here. I’ve been following Donna’s blog and will visit Suzanne’s. #MLSTL
That’s great Natalie, and thank you for popping by 🙂
