Hello Everyone! Today’s “Fun Fashion for women over 50” post in the Outfit Of The Day series is a colourful ensemble which could easily take you from lunch to dinner, or from brunch to barbecue.
The navy, midi skirt I’m wearing is cut beautifully and lined. It’s created in a lovely chiffon-type fabric which gives it a bit of a swirl. I’m wearing it with a colourful print blouse in abstract blues and pinks, but it would also go really nicely with a plain white blouse – which would be very chic, don’t you think?

Outfit of the day ideas – Colourful Separates
When choosing separates, you don’t have to go all out matchy-matchy, but a certain amount of co-ordination is pretty.
Though do remember that a printed top worn with printed bottoms can look a little too much (depending on the print) and you don’t want to look like a jungle or a walking flower bed.

Like wine, women only get better with time – that’s my opinion, and I’m sticking to it.
I found a post on Style Craze by Pratima Ati which also gave the following helpful advice regarding fashion for women over 50 and Style and Wardrobe Tips for Women Over 50.
Style Guide And 5 Wardrobe Tips For Women Over 50
- Don’t shy away from bold colours, but do balance them out
- Wear well-fitting jeans and trousers as opposed to loose, sloppy ones.
- Pick dresses that drape around you over the clingy ones.
- Go with patterns and prints that compliment your body shape
- Accessories are and always will be a game changer

Floral top with navy skirt
A pretty print top with a plain skirt is an attractive combo.
I’ve teamed the navy skirt with two tops – one with cap sleeves almost to the elbow, and the other is more of a vest top.
It’s a versatile everyday style and I love the colour combos of these stylish separates for over fifties.
The layered cap sleeve top is elegant and charming and is lined and layered to fall at a flattering length below waist level.

The bright pink look-at-me pom pom handbag and the Boho tote bag in the photos are from A Bohemian at Heart collection from Travel & Living Collection. Made from soft, luxurious, pliable suede they are Australian designed and crafted to high standards, and really great accessories to add a little edge.

I think, the vest top elongates and slims, despite the fact that I’m not always okay with displaying my un-toned upper arms. It’s a good length too and could easily be worn with jeans or navy pants too.

I love the elegant length of the skirt, and the way it falls. It’s forgiving and slimming at the same time.
I really like the easy wear style of the layered top which skims my waist and sits effortlessly just below my tips. I’ll also be wearing it with jeans and slim fitting pants.

Handbags are a trendy accessory and let’s face it they fit and flatter any body type so you don’t have to worry if they suit your shape! I think it’s fun keeping up with the latest trends and having a funky handbag in the cupboard to add a little pazazz to an outfit.
Make sure your handbags are well crafted, and made from high-quality materials. Leather or suede are the best in my opinion and never go out of style.

Thanks Hannah ๐ Glad you are enjoying Lifestyle Fifty ๐
This outfit is charming and the hand bag very suitable.
Thanks Kate! Glad you like ๐
I love the skirt Jo. Particularly with the sleeveless top. I agree that we shouldn’t be afraid to wear some bold colours as we get older. I like a lot of colour in my wardrobe.
Hi Kathy, yes I agree. Sometimes we just don’t need to be held back by convention or what other people think! I love lots of colour and I do like the elongating effect of sleeveless tops – ‘cos I’m short! Thanks for popping by today x
You look lovely Jo – I’d wear the top with capri pants. The skirt is really pretty – the trouble is that there seem to be fewer opportunities to wear pretty skirts these days.
You’re right Leanne. Everything has become so much more casual. I did wear a skirt for sundowners when we met friends the other night, and it felt great to look a little different for a change. I do tend to live in capri pants given half a chance! Thank you for popping by today x I hope you’re doing well and staying cool on this hot weekend ๐
