What does being in fashion really mean for the over fifties? Why is the concept of fashion different to style? Let’s have a peak at some stylish separates for over fifties which are super easy to wear and fashionable too.
Personal style
When it comes to fashion over 50 personal style is really all about having a distinctive appearance, without dressing too old or too young for your age.
For women over 50, your personal style may have been developing for years, or it may be something you chance upon for just a season. But it’s very different style time to when you were in your twenties or thirties.
I’m loving colourful swing tops over stretchy capri pants as a mid season style this year.
Fifty Plus Fashion.
One of my favourite styles this season is cropped pants with long suede boots and a floaty print top – topped with a semi-tailored, light weight jacket all from Vivid International,
Vivid is a label that creates fabulously stylish separates for over fifties.

Personal style is a distinguishing way of presenting yourself. It might be idiosyncratic or unique, but it will be special.
It could be a characteristic, or something other people see as typical about the way you choose to dress.
Your style is as individual as you are.
Stylish separates for over fifties should be chosen to be as individual as you but fit well and feel great on too.
My style changes with the seasons, but I prefer a quietly elegant, classy style whenever possible.
Your style can be peculiar sometimes, differentiating always. noteworthy often.
Fashion on the other hand is more about trends in the style in which people present themselves.
I believe that fifty plus fashion can still be trendy and up to the minute without looking ridiculous – if you pay attention to new trends and colours and make them work for you, but don’t let fashion trends dictate what you wear.
A particular runway fashion can become the prevailing style in behaviour – like grunge or classical – or showcase the newest creations from designers who’s designs may ultimately translate into high street style, which we as consumers might choose to buy into.
The style below is kind of streetwise, casual, definitely comfortable, with a touch of class.

Rather than opting for traditional sweet spring florals, street style trends are suggesting that this year you may be looking at slightly funkier pieces, like the eccentric splash design top above which I’ve teamed with capri pants, and sexy long suede boots – instead of sneakers or ankle boots.
Pop on some signature sunglasses, a FitBit (to make you do your 10,000 steps a day) and a smile and you’re good to go!
Being fashionable over 50 means breaking free from always playing it safe, and instead embracing garments which spark fun.
Want to be wacky – go for it! This season why not embrace odd shaped handbags and colourful tote bags, large tassle earings, and jeans rolled up to mid calf length.
Clash colours if you like. Be bold. Be eccentric if you like!
Regardless of which trends you choose to experiment with, and which you let go, I’ll bet once you start you’ll enjoy the liberated feeling dressing stylishly gives you, and you’ll start wearing trends in a way that feels right for you – and not look just the same as everyone else.
Great style after the age of 50 means not only looking great, but also feeling great (and comfortable) in what you wear.
Get those three things right and you’ll have a winning wardrobe after 50!
