Every now and then I wish I my inherent fashion vibe was classy, old money style. But in reality I’m always happiest in boho outfits that feel comfy and look a little bit quirky.

Stylish Boho Outfits
Being a baby boomer, I’m still a little bit hippie at heart, and I really do love most boho style outfits. Give me a long free flowing dress, a wide brimmed hat, big dark sunnies and a pair of sandals, and I’m happily dressed for most occasions.

I don’t come from old money, nor am I nouveau riche or famous, which lets me off the fashion merry go round on a number of counts! And being more advanced style than Tik Tok ‘It’ fashionista girl means at my age I can get away with absolutely anything I like!
And have fun I will, as you should too. Click arrow to play video.
If you’re like me you love clothes, and you don’t mind experimenting. You’re free spirited when the urge strikes, and willing to try new things when the boho muse materialises.
As many of you know, and many previous blog posts give testament, I really love the choice, the variety and the boho style of the Australian boho brand, Salty Crush. I have many pieces in my wardrobe (both gifted and bought) that never seem to go out of fashion, which I can mix and match with a variety of boho accessories.

It’s the Lifestyle Fifty mantra to have fun with fashion. So, don’t dress as I say, but dress for who you are and the lifestyle you have. Have fun! Most especially don’t give up on wearing nice clothes that suit you just because you’ve reached a certain age.
Here are my current Boho faves from Salty Crush. The coatigan and the cardigan were gifted.
Davie Cardigan – Collared Button Down Coatigan in Pink

The coziness of a cardigan meets the sophistication of a coat in this distinctive coatigan which comes in different colors. I’m wearing the soft, dusky pink. Pockets, buttons and lapels add flair, while the below-the-knee length makes it a warm and versatile piece to wear over jeans or dresses.
Features
- Folded Lapel Collar
- Long Sleeves with Cuffs
- Buttoned Down Front
- Pockets
- Below Knee Length
- 65% Acrylic 35% Wool
- I’m wearing S/M
Gwen Cardigan – Stripe Buttoned Cardigan in Tan

The Gwen Cardigan comes in varying shades, but I love the versatility of this coffee and cream colorway. It has a soft, relaxed silhouette with ballon style sleeves, making it a fabulous neutral layering piece for any outfit.
Features
- V-Neckline
- Striped Pattern
- Buttoned Front
- Long Balloon Sleeves
- 65% Acrylic 35% Wool
- I’m wearing S/M

5 Boho Styling Tips
1. What are some classic accessories for a boho look?
Boho style loves to be layered, so add a variety of accessories to complete your look.
Easy ways to do this are to stack up on bracelets, wear a few necklaces with different lengths, slide funky rings onto your fingers, or pop on a pair aviator sunnies.
Add a wide-brimmed hat. Salty Crush has some lovely Boho hats like those featured below.

Accessories are a brilliant way to add texture and personality, making your outfit uniquely yours.
2. Can you mix textures and patterns?
Don’t be afraid to mix textures and prints when styling your boho pieces. You can incorporate both bold prints and colors; look for floral, paisley and tribal patterns – just be brave and combine colors and prints that reflect a free-spirited attitude.
A floral or paisley boho dress can pair beautifully with a knitted cardigan, or a denim jacket, adding depth and interest.
Below I’m wearing the pink Davie coatigan with the paisley print Rachel Maxi dress both from Salty Crush

3. How to add structure
To define your waist and give a little shape to a flowy boho dress, add a belt.

I’m always a little faint hearted to do this as since menopause my waist is no longer visible. However, a leather or braided belt works perfectly to cinch the waist, adding a touch of structure to a relaxed outfit without losing its bohemian charm.
4. What identifies boho footwear?
You can most definitely pair your boho bell bottoms or a boho dress with ankle boots, gladiator sandals, Birkenstocks, comfy walking sandals, or even espadrilles. In cooler weather, knee-high boots look fantastic with boho dresses.
5. What’s a great boho hairstyle?
Boho style is often inspired by nature, so if you can, try for a hairstyle that’s soft and relaxed. Beachy waves, loose braids, and of course natural curls go perfectly with a boho dress, giving off a relaxed free-spirited vibe.
