Are you looking for inspirational gifts?
Something a little out of the ordinary to give to somebody who possibly says they don’t want a gift, or tells you they have everything they need?
Inspirational Gifts for friends and relatives.
Yup, it’s tricky isn’t it. You want to buy them something that they’ll like, but it can’t be ordinary. It has to be something a little left of centre.
But inspirational gifts are hard to find, and often hard to imagine.
Here are three great ideas for inspirational gifts that won’t break the bank, and which I hope may be gratefully received because they are versatile and somewhat unusual.
So today I’m saying “No” to flowers and chocolates and smelly things! But “Yes!” to the following …

Raven’s Landing – The Peshtemal
Who knows what a ‘Peshtemal’ is?
If you said it’s a handloomed Turkish towel – then 10 points, top of the class for you!
I didn’t know what a Peshtemal is until Jackie Wyer, founder of Raven’s Landing and a proponent of slow travel, got in touch with me.
It’s gorgeous.
It’s like a touch of Turkish culture. Lightweight, highly absorbent and quick drying. Perfect for travel, beach or the gym – and it makes a wonderful and slightly unusual gift.
According to Jackie, pictured above: “Traditional handloomed Turkish peshtemals are known for their superior quality and luxurious style. Dating back hundreds of years, peshtemals were the staple towels used in Turkish Baths. To this day, they are still used but mass commercialisation of the manufacturing process means traditional ateliers are few and far between.”
Inspirational Gift Ideas that won’t break the bank
Designed in Australia, they are handmade in Turkey and they come in lots of different colours.
Jackie says she spends hours and days scouring piles of local hand dyed materials at the local markets, searching for the perfect patterns and styles for her designs.
Jackie first travelled to Turkey in 2012 to live and work, and beckoned by the allure of Turkish craftsmanship, she fell in love with the earthy style of handmade peshtemals. She’d package them up to send home as souvenirs and gifts for friends and family. In her eyes, it was the perfect way to encapsulate the Turkish culture she deeply loved.

To Toncho or not to Toncho?
What’s a Toncho, I can hear you asking.
Well, it’s a towel, but it’s not a towel. It’s a beach cover up, but it’s not entirely a beach cover up.
According to the suppliers a Toncho does everything a normal tower does except fall off at an inappropriate moment!
This is what it looks like
A Toncho’s purpose is to dry yourself when you are wet – it can be slipped on quickly over your head to keep you warm, and protect you from the wind and elements – and also prying eyes.
You can put your swimmers on under a Poncho, or take them off and get dressed again without anyone seeing or noticing.
But they’re not just for the girls in your family. They would make a fabulous present for those tricky to buy for men in your life too.
I can’t wait to try mine – once beach weather is here again! For now, it waits … or perhaps a man in my life will nab it before I do.
It’s soft and it’s absorbent and feels very luxe to the touch.
It’s a generous size – in fact I think it’s a bit like having your own portable beach hut.
A Toncho has you covered in public places when you want to dry in private.

Cinema Tickets with a Twist
Something most of us love to do is go to the cinema.
So a VIP Vmax Movie Gift Card to see a movie would be a wonderful gift.
It gives the person you’re giving to a choice, but it’s also not just money you’re giving.
In a way you’re giving the gift of adventure! How good is that 🙂
Event Cinemas Vmax in Australia is a big movie experience – big seats, big sound and a huge 20 metre digitial screen great for blockbuster movies.
And naturally, while you’re there a little popcorn munching is required.
Parlour Lane Popcorn Company is bringing a delicious new twist with a gourmet popcorn range.
Look out for them when you’re after a movie snack 🙂
There’s Spicy Nacho, Sweet and Salty, Salt and vinegar, Salted Caramel, Chocolatey and New York Mix (which brings together cheese and creamy caramel).
Personally, I loved the salt and vinegar flavour which was salty and sour and delicious, while Dave loved the tastebud tickler of spicy nacho.
If you’re a popcorn lover, look out for these new flavours at Event Cinemas or visit Parlor Lane Popcorn Company for more information.

A Toncho would be perfect for going to and from the car to aqua aerobics. Not that I do that anymore (stoopid ear infections) but still I longed for something like this – at the time I could only find kiddies’ versions!
I know they used to be kiddie things didn’t they. So great to have found a grown up version.
Hi Kathy, the Toncho is amazing … I think we’ll be fighting over it come the summer, especially for beach car park changes and windy days. But also the Peshtemal … so great to have something lightweight and quick drying with a multitude of uses. Thanks for popping by x
I bought a couple of Peshtemals whilst we were in Turkey several years ago but I didn’t realised they were called this. They are light weight and dry quickly. I do like the idea of a Toncho too. I will keep these gift ideas in mind for that hard to buy for person.
