Wondering what to wear at home this Autumn? Looking for comfy clothes for short fall walks in the countryside? Here are some fall fashion ideas for women over 50 who want to look stylish, and demand to feel comfortable.
5 Fall Fashion Ideas
- Layering is everything because it affords flexibility if the weather is changeable.
- For a warm Boho look wear a floaty summer dress with a chunky knit and ankle boots.
- Keep wearing your summer clothes. Just layer them and wear an under vest, jumper or cardi, and tights.
- Seek out pretty scarves because scarves are a girl’s best friend during Fall.
- Sneakers will keep your feet toasty warm and still look summery.
Why I love Fall
Fall is a fabulous time of year in South Western Australia.
The days are cooler, the deciduous trees change colour, and the beaches are just beautiful for walking along because the sea still retains its summer blues.
Plus the summer afternoon winds have dropped, the daytime shadows are longer and altogether it feels like a more peaceful time of year.
Time to bring out the midseason clothes – and start thinking about fashion ideas for Fall.
Autumn Fashion Ideas & A Super Midseason Outfit
The outfit I’m showcasing today is perfect for Fall. It’s from Vivid International and features a gorgeous tiered long sleeve grey T.
The top is a beautiful soft knit which drapes well and feels beautiful to wear.

It’s got a beautiful flow, and neatly hides both tum and bum, without making you look voluptuous.
The pants are longline bengaline pants. They have a nice stretch, an elasticated waistband and are super comfy.
Shoes, Boots, Trainers or Sneakers?
I put on a pair of trainers because we were going for a walk, but this outfit would equally suit a trip to the shops or lunch with a friend.
Just pop on a pair of trendy sneakers or ankle boots and you’d be set to go.
Keep your Hat On!
Lots of people comment on the hat I’m wearing – it’s an old favourite and given to me by a dear friend.
I suggest that when you’re wearing block colours, and particularly grey which I love for Fall, then a bright pop of colour be it a hat or a bag is a great way to add a little interest to the outfit.

Fall Fashion means Layering
Mid season, whether it’s in Autumn (Fall) or Spring, can be a tricky time of year, but if you have a good capsule wardrobe you’ll be able to layer summer gear like a pro, or peel off winter gear in haste.
I love popping on waterfall cardigans over summer frocks, or wearing chunky knit tights and ankle boots with a floaty summer midi dress for a great boho look.
Stock up on longline T’s like the grey one I’m wearing from Vivid International, and wear them over skinny jeans, then add a chunky knit cardigan and a scarf which you can take off if the day warms up.
Here’s to Autumn Days my friends! I hope you’ve enjoyed these Fall fashion ideas, and look forward to hearing your tips in the comments.
